Goodreads Summary: "Oliver Twist is one of the most well-known stories ever told, about a young orphan who has to survive the mean streets of London before ultimately being rescued by a kindly benefactor. But it is his friend, the Artful Dodger, who has the far more intriguing tale, filled with more adventure and excitement than anything boring Oliver could possibly get up to. Throw in some vampires and a plot to overthrow the British monarchy, and what you have is the thrilling account that Charles Dickens was too scared to share with the world." My Summary: "Vampires with some connection to the old tale of Oliver Twist." My Favorite Character: I'm gonna say Drina. I won't give too much away cuz there is a lil surprise with her but she was a tough chick & upfront, I liked her. My Likes: how the author thought of all this crazy stuff that could have been connected to Oliver Twist. Now, I've never read Oliver Twist so I would like someone to read both & then let me know what your thoughts are. My Dislikes: how slowly it started out. It took a bit for me to get into it & I was starting to worry that I made a mistake with reading it but it got good & held my interest to the end. What I Learned: ah, that Disney's Oliver & Company was their version of Oliver Twist. I had no frickin' idea about that. Ha! Oliver & Company was the first movie I saw in the theater. :) Who I Would Recommend This To: anyone that has read Oliver Twist & people that like a good vampire story...but remember to give it a chance. Rating: 3/5 Stars
My five things this week are Current Favorite Things.
1. Spotify. Seems like every where I turn people are jumping on the Spotify wagon & let me tell you, I've been aboard since pretty much the very beginning. I've had it longer than I've been with Paul & that will be nine years in June. I use my Spotify every single day & I really shit you not, I really do. Best thing ever!
2. Speaking of Spotify, my favorite playlist lately has been my Queen one. My favorite thing to do while listening to it is driving by myself so I can belt it out like a mad women. Freddie is the perfect pitch for me to match & it makes me feel like I'm a VERY small faction of cool that Freddie was. Ha!
3. I have an oil diffuser in my office & right now, this scent is my favorite one to be diffusing. All us folks here at the office need a lil bit peace & harmony so some gals come into my office to just smell my diffuser & venture their way. :)
4. This...I always change my background on my work computer every Friday & I found this. It probably cracked me up more than it should have. Tee hee!
5. My Happy Notes calendar. Again, as I am going on this "being positive" adventure, I bought this calendar for my office & I love it. I even send daily Snaps to folks every morning with the positive words that are shared with me. :)
Not sure what Wednesdays will be about so that's why I went with "Wing It Wednesday", we'll just see what comes outta this every week.
Well, it's snowing here in Central Wisconsin & I am already so over it. I seriously think that Wisconsin should be like the City of Denver where they have heated roads so snow & ice don't stick to them. How clever is that?! I think that sounds amazing! Yea, it would be a pretty penny to do but then it saves on plowing, salting/sanding & lives. & maybe not all the roads in Wisconsin but at least the main ones it would be nice.
Last night, the hubby & I were supposed to venture down to the movie theater for $5 Movie Night to see Glass but with the snow & the fact that my hubby didn't want to walk the whole couple of blocks to the theater, we didn't go. Boo! But to make it up to me, we watched a couple of episodes of Friends. :)
& that's pretty much all I have for random thoughts on this Wing It Wednesday. Ha!
IMDB's Summary: "Arthur Curry learns that he is the heir to the underground kingdom of Atlantis & must step forward to lead his people & be a hero to the world."
My Summary: a slightly cartoony movie with a VERY attractive man in the lead.
My Favorite Character: would there be any other that is as great as Arthur/Aquaman in this movie?! I think not! Okay, his mom, Atlanna played by Nicole Kidman was pretty cool, she was a badass & who Arthur was most alike.
My Likes: the actors in the movie - Jason Momoa, Willem Dafoe & Patrick Wilson. They were all great. However, seeing Patrick that nasty left a bad taste in my mouth, I like him much more as a good guy. Ha!
My Dislikes: the character of Mera played by Amber Heard. I don't know who came first Scarlet Witch in Marvel or Mera in DC but they were a ripoff of the other even down to the red hair. I also didn't like how some scenes specifically the action scenes looked so cartoon-like. I don't know if that was purposely done or what but I did not dig that.
What I Learned: that even in the ocean & being able to swim super fast, you still may need a mode of transportation to get from one point to another. Ha!
Who I Would Recommend This To: anyone that loves DC, comics or watching a beautiful Jason Momoa for about two hours. :)
I have decided that it was time to not only really try to get back to blogging but to start out with a new blog completely. Not like there was anything wrong with my other one but I just wanted to post things of only positive vibes as I feel there is not enough positive vibes out there. So, I am going to try to do daily posts with a different theme each day:
Monday - Makes Me Happy Pics where I will post pictures that bring a smile to my face.
Tuesday - Time for a Lil Review. where I will review something whether it be a movie, a book, a song - we'll see where the days bring us.
Wednesday - Wing It Wednesday, where I'll just write about whatever tickles my fancy.
Thursday - Thankful Thursday...that's a given, yes? Ha!
Friday - Friday Five, I cannot get away from doing five of something on a Friday.
I cannot wait to see what this new blog brings on. :)
